Q. What to do Before You Tan?

Skin replaces itself naturally every 28 days. Twenty-five percent of skin is exfoliated each week, causing a UV-tan to wear away. Sunless spray tans affect only the top 25 percent of skin, so you'll want to remove this extra skin prior to tanning. Exfoliating with our "Pre-Party Scrub" or other appropriate product is recommended the day you sunless-tan. Removing loose, dead, dry skin cells that prevent even application of sunless solution will improve and extend your tanning results.

Before sunless tanning, your skin should be clean and dry with no soap residue to interfere with your tan. "Avoid bar soap" as it may leave undetected patches on your skin.
Apply minimal to no deodorant or perfumes to skin prior to tanning, and shave or wax the day before..
Select a dark bathing suit or underwear to wear while being sprayed, though our female clients may opt for no tan lines. (Disposable underwear can be provided) Also remember to bring dark-colored, loose-fitting clothing and flip-flops to wear home.
After your tan, do not apply deodorant or moisturizing agents for 3-4 hours. Although the likelihood for an allergic reaction is very small, a patch test is recommended for persons who have a known sensitivity to sunless products or their ingredients.
After all sunless treatments, wait at least six to eight hours before bathing or exercising to allow the DHA bronzer enough time to finish the reaction process.

Sunless Tan Maintenance

We recommend that after every five weeks of spray-tanning, let your skin rest for 10 days. This allows you to completely lose your sunless tan periodically, which helps eliminate patchiness or uneven areas of wear. These areas are caused by normal contact with clothing and other surfaces, which cause unintended exfoliation. Healthy, moist skin will retain the results of your sunless tanning session longer. Sunless spray results will vary by individual.

When showering, use your palms for lathering in lieu of a loofah or wash cloth. Also, use moisturizers generously as they have been proven to help extend the length of a sunless tan. Be aware that swimming in chlorinated pools dries the skin, which shortens the life of a sunless tan. Moisturize after swimming to help reverse any dryness, and be careful not to exfoliate the skin when towel-drying.

Q. What is the Difference between a Customized Airbrush Tan and the Mystic or Magic Tan?

When receiving a customized airbrush tan by your Colour Couture Airbrush Technician you will receive complete hands on application that is completed in 10 minutes or less. Colour Couture's technician's will apply our "Socialite" or "Red Carpet" solution to create an even and natural looking tan. Covering sensitive area's such as the hands and feet to produce a natural looking colour!

Colour Couture's solutions have zero scent.

When receiving a Mystic or Magic Tan you are relying on a machine to cover all areas of the body. These machines tend to leave you "streaky", "orange" with a horrible odor. The cost is less, however the extra $5-$10 will give you that peace of mind!

Q. Is this safe for my skin?

The active ingredient our products is dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which interacts with the epidermis, or outer layer of dead skin cells, to create a tan. It has been used for over 30 years without any harmful effect.

NOTE: If you are pregnant consult your physician prior to attending. If you are breast feeding make sure to wear a top that covers the breasts as the moisture will rub off onto your child's mouth.

Q. How long will my tan last?

Each client will vary. Depending on your skin type your tan should last up to 7-10 days. Applying Colour Couture's "Tanning Extender Lotion" or other appropriate lotions will help preserve the life of your tan. With a follow-up application you can maintain the lasting look of your Colour.

Tight clothing may cause unintended exfoliation. Chlorine & Salt water may effect your tan.

Q. What should I wear for my tanning session?

Women have the option of "no tan lines" however it is at your discretion. A dark colored bathing suite is most common. It will not stain your clothes if you wash after your session.

Q. Will I smell after my session?

Colour Couture's Socialite Solution has no scent to the product!

Q. How long will my session take?

Walk in: your Colour Couture technician will evaluate your skin type, colour shades & problem areas. Once the session begins it takes our technician's five minutes or less to complete a full body tan.

Mobile Tanning: Once our technician arrives it will take 5 minutes to set up and approximately five minutes to complete your tan. We only require an outlet.
